Medicare Counseling (SHIP)
Medicare is medical insurance program for persons age 65 and older or persons with disabilities under age 65 (if disabled for at least 24 months).
Specific Area IV staff are trained through the Indiana State Dept. of Insurance to assist persons with questions about Medicare. Our counseling includes assisting in finding an appropriate Pt. D. prescription drug plan or Advantage health plan. We also assess for Medicare Savings Program (MSP) and Low Income Subsidies (LIS or also called Extra Help). The Medicare Saving Program has three levels of help but all levels help pay your Pt. B premium. The Low Income Subsidy has two levels and both help reduce drug cost and premium.
Contact the Information and Assistance Dept. to make an appointment for this counseling at 800-382-7556 / 765-447-7683 or by filling out our contact form.
* If your monthly income is at or below $1,000/single or $1,348/couple and your assets are no greater than $2,000/single or $3,000/couple AND you are over the age of 65 or receiving Social Security Disability Income or Supplement Security Income you might be eligible for Medicaid.
