Community Transportation
Through a partnership with six Town Councils, volunteers provide affordable, cost effective, public transportation to persons living in Boswell, Brookston, Clarks Hill, Hillsboro, Rossville, Waveland and immediate surrounding areas. Lift vans available.
Benton County "HOPE" Transit Program
A county-wide program using volunteers to help elderly/handicapped persons get to needed medical appointments. Volunteers use their own vehicles. A lift van is also available.
Energy Assistance
This program enables elderly and low-income households to meet their rising energy bills and assures they have heat through the winter months. Other special programs such as Summer Fill and air conditioners may be available throughout the year.
Housing
Affordable housing opportunities are offered to low-moderate income persons. Activities may include single/multi-family renovation and new construction plus housing counseling.
Indiana Money Management Program
Through this program, volunteers and staff provide at-risk, physically and/or mentally disadvantaged persons with support services to help them manage their personal financial affairs to avoid homelessness or premature institutionalization.
Section 8 Rental Assistance
This program assists families to secure decent, safe, sanitary housing at an affordable cost. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) pays the difference between what a low-income household can afford and the HUD approved rent for an adequate housing unit. Tenants pay approximately 30% of their adjusted gross income toward rent, including utilities.
Weatherization
The Weatherization Program reduces energy costs for low-income families, particularly the elderly, people with disabilities, and children, while ensuring their health and safety. Professional staff use energy audit protocols and advanced diagnostic equipment to determine which cost-effective measures should be installed to achieve the greatest efficiency and cost payback.
