About Area IV

Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit organization working to inspire hope and spark positive change in the lives of those we serve and the communities where we live. We make the best use of federal, state, and local resources in the form of programs or services, it is governed by a Board of Directors and operates from a central office in Lafayette and eight satellite offices in neighboring counties.

The Agency on Aging portion of the organization is mandated by the Federal Older Americans Act of 1965 to respond to the needs of aging adults and their caregivers as a way of helping them remain independent. It focuses on services and programs for the elderly and persons with disabilities of all ages by serving the counties of Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren, and White.

Area IV is a member of the National and Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging. There are 16 Agencies on Aging in the state of Indiana and over 600 in the United States.

The Community Action Programs portion of the agency is a part of the War on Poverty initiative under the Federal Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 designed to assist disadvantaged and low-income persons with a variety of programs and services in the counties of Boone, Carroll, Clinton, Hamilton, Hendricks, Tippecanoe, and White.

The Agency is a member of the National and Indiana Associations of Community Action Agencies. There are 22 Community Action Agencies in Indiana and over 1,000 in the United States.

Area IV services are provided without regard to race, age, color, religion, sex, disability, gender and/or gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, or status as a veteran.
