Area IV Agency Community Needs Assessment Highlights Key Challenges Across the Region

03Sep

Area IV Agency recently completed its Community Needs Assessment, gathering valuable feedback from low-income residents and community partners throughout our service area. The assessment helps identify the most pressing challenges facing local individuals and families and guides our efforts to develop programs, services, and partnerships that address those needs.

The survey included feedback from 24 low-income residents and 20 community partners located in Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, and White Counties.

Based on participant responses, the top community needs identified were:

  • Utility affordability and assistance
  • Food assistance
  • Services for individuals with physical and mental disabilities
  • Quality and affordable housing
  • Independent living assistance

One resident shared:

“I pay my bills every month, but I have nothing left for emergencies, or to improve my quality of life.”

This statement reflects a challenge faced by many households across our region: balancing essential expenses while striving for long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

Community Needs Assessments play an important role in helping Area IV Agency understand local conditions and prioritize resources where they can have the greatest impact. The findings also help inform planning, strengthen community partnerships, and support efforts to address barriers faced by low-income individuals and families.

Area IV Agency is grateful to everyone who participated in the assessment and shared their experiences. The insights gathered help ensure that community voices remain at the center of our work as we continue our mission to inspire hope and spark positive change throughout the communities we serve.
